Letter from the Editor

Notable and Newsworthy: VIP Profiles, Issue 13

Greetings Readers,

Thank you all for successfully working with our e-newsletter's new HTML format. Please, continue to give any feedback or notify us of any problems that you may have. This helps us to constantly move the "VIP Profiles" in the right direction.

This week we feature two interesting folks; Michael Reiff, an English and Secondary Education student, newspaper section editor, and Team VIP member who has made consistent contributions to our e-newsletter. We also bring words of advice from SUNY Chancellor John R. Ryan, who recently visited Geneseo to speak about leadership and his experience with it.

Have a nice week and enjoy!

The Life and Times of JWN:

The bulk of this week was spent writing papers for a couple English courses: American Romanticism and Shakespeare. Also, on behalf of my investment team for the Student Managed Investment Fund, I presented a report on Altria Group (Symbol: MO), to the other teams and their managers.

As aforementioned, our track meet was cancelled and we decided not to go to the RIT Leadership Conference, so the weekend freed up nicely. This made for a nice change from the usual unruly pace Ben and I live our lives at.

In the spirit of investment, my recommended reading for the week is Liar's Poker by Michael Lewis. The investment industry is on my brain, having spent much of my time this week interacting with the fine people of Manning & Napier in Fairport, NY, about internship opportunities. This book is a candid and comical look into the life of investment bankers.
